Caterpillar classroom -
About us
The Caterpillar classroom is designed as a low-arousal environment, carefully structured to support children’s individual needs.
It benefits from a high staff-to-child ratio, ensuring that every child receives focused support and attention.
The classroom includes a sensory room, which children can access freely during 'free-flow' time, allowing them to regulate their sensory needs as they choose.
This environment is particularly well-suited to supporting children with higher levels of need.
Play-based learning opportunities are thoughtfully planned to enable children to consolidate and apply newly acquired knowledge, demonstrating their skills and understanding.
By offering these active learning experiences through play, we recognize and uphold the central importance of play within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. As a play-based curriculum, the EYFS is fundamentally grounded in the belief that play is key to children's learning and development.
